Just saw the first few episodes, and jesus christ, Jesse looks like he fucking turned 30 years old lol
Aaron Paul is 35! Yeah, I know, he looks younger when he shaves! Hey look on the bright side, he'd be 19 in "Better Call Saul" so we can look forward to him playing even younger then that (IF he shows up).
Really I think they gave him a beard to make him look older. When we met him he was, in a lot of ways, an overgrown kid. I interpret the beard as meaning he's finally grown up. In a lot of ways he's Walt's equal by the end. His plan to use the money barrels to bust him would have worked if Walt hadn't panicked and called Jack. He outsmarted the smartest guy on the show.
As for what he did after the show... Good God do I want it to be "something great." Over and over on this show, we've seen people take on the traits of the people they are close to, and Jesse ends up with the motherload. By the end of the series he's accquired:
- Jane's insight.
- Andrea's love and determination to protect her child.
- Mike's strength, kindness, and loyalty.
- Walt's determination and cunning.
And really, after you've survived being enslaved by a bunch of Nazis who murdered your girlfriend right in front of you... what else is scary?? Jesse should be the coolest bitch ever after all this. He should be the guy it is impossible to intimidate. Come at me with that shotgun, I dare you. I've been there with people much better at it then you. You don't impress me at all.
He's also now the last person alive who knows Heisenberg's blue meth formula. Although I'm sure he'd much rather die then ever make it again, it's knowledge he could use to jump start a genuine career in chemistry. I'm a little sad that after he left Walt, he didn't start reading chemistry books or studying chemical reactions or anything. It would have been cool to see him mastering his tools and turning this negative into something positive.
Basically that's what I hope Jesse does, somehow. I hope he takes all the shit he's been through, turns it around, and spends the rest of his life doing good things that help people. He could be like a one-man A-Team.
Or he could make a lot of boxes. Whatever makes him happy.
