AMC has confirmed that the fifth season of Breaking Bad concludes the series. The season consists of 16 episodes and splits in half, the first eight episodes aired in 2012 and final eight are scheduled to begin airing on August 11, 2013. The first half premiered July 15th, 2012 and concluded on September 2, 2012.

Story

No longer under the thumb of a mastermind criminal, Walt now assumes the role of one himself, as he and Jesse look to build their own empire with help from Mike. Meanwhile, Skyler struggles with the reality of her husband’s new role and Hank works to wrap up his investigation of Gus’ business.

Walt, Jesse, and Mike resume cooking meth under the guise of Vamonos Pest Control bug bombed houses. Walt stresses that because they are in charge everything will be smooth and there will be no violence -- but unfortunate little seems to go to plan as they deal with ducking the DEA and Walt's family issues.
