The Ruger LCR (lightweight compact revolver) is a polymer-framed revolver. It is available in .22 LR, .38+P or .357 Magnum with factory options of Hogue tamer, Hogue boot or Crimson Trace Lasergrips, weighing 13 or 13.5 ounces with the .38 or 17.1 ounces in .357 magnum. At 13.5 oz (380 g), the LCR is nearly 50% lighter than the stainless steel Ruger SP-101 and with only the barrel and fluted cylinder made of stainless steel. The frame is aluminum alloy and synthetic glass-filled polymer finished in matte black with Synergistic Hard Coat.
Walter White purchased a Ruger LCR from an illegal arms dealer named Lawson along with a leather I.W.B., the arms dealer recommended he load it with .38 Special 158 grain hollow points for good stopping power, and also recommended he not cross draw unless he is sitting down. Walter practiced with the gun and later intended to use it against Gustavo Fring, even though he failed in two attempts to use it (in the first time he confused Gus with Tyrus Kitt, in the second time he tried to shoot Gus at his doorstep, but wasn't even able to approach the house). Walter then tried to convince Mike Ehrmantraut to help him murder Gus, only to be attacked for carrying the weapon ("Thirty-Eight Snub").
Walter was seen carrying the weapon with him for most part of the season, but the only time he came to use it was when Jesse Pinkman was kidnaped by two of Gus' henchmen and forced to work in the superlab. Walt shot down the two henchmen, and then the Ruger is burned with the rest of the lab to cover all the tracks ("Face Off").
Mike kept a Ruger LCR inside a bag along with some money and a passaport in case he ever needed to leave New Mexico in a hurry. This time came when Dan Wachsberger gave the DEA information about Mike's criminal activities, and Mike asked Walter to deliver him the bag, since it would be too risky for Mike to go after it. Unknown to Mike, Walter took the gun from the bag before giving it to him, and after a heated argument, Walter used the gun to kill Mike ("Say My Name").
Walt kept the Ruger to himself, hidden inside the soda machine at the Car Wash. After Walt received a call from Saul Goodman about Jesse knowing about Walt poisoning Brock Cantillo, Walt retrieved the Ruger from the machine ("Confessions").
