Emilio Koyama meth lab

Emilio making Chili P before getting raided by the DEA.

Chili powder is the dried, pulverized fruit of one or more varieties of chili pepper, sometimes with the addition of other spices (when it may be known as chili powder blend). It is used as a spice to add pungency or piquancy and flavor to dishes. In Breaking Bad, Jesse Pinkman (known as Captain Cook) and his former partner Emilio Koyama used chili powder as their signature formulation for methamphetamine.

History[]

Breaking Bad[]

Season 1[]

While the DEA raids Jesse and Emilio's meth lab, Emilio is seen cooking meth using excessive chili powder. Though Jesse used chili powder as a signature for his meth, Walter White expresses disgust calling Jesse's meth "shit". Walt then continues to state that he and Jesse must formulate a more "pure" meth formula. ("Pilot")

Season 2[]

In an attempt to poison Tuco Salamanca, Walt induces a piece of meth with ricin, Tuco notices the smell, and Jesse attempts to convince Tuco to try the piece of meth, stating that it contains chili powder. Tuco then retorts saying that he "hates chili powder". ("Grilled")

Season 3[]

While Jesse attempts to duplicate Walt's meth, Walt tells Jesse that he can cook whatever he liked "as long as it’s that ridiculous Chili P or some other dreck, but don’t even think about using my formula". ("Más")

Trivia[]

  • The purity of Jesse and Emilio's "Chilli Powder" is never shown in the show.
